10 & Under Tennis

Yes….. It is starting to happen. I don’t know about other places in the US yet, but Michael Jessup from Northern Calif. is starting a circuit for 10 and under, WITH REGULAR BALLS on REGULAR COURTS. Great, I suggested that Pro’s should run their own tournaments for the 10 and under many times. Those little ones need competition, NOT a USTA ranking. He promised that his tournaments will be run different than the USTA ones, where the supervision is far better than the USTA does it. He will have ONE umpire for every TWO courts, with strict rules of behavior for players, parents and coaches, and not the way the USTA runs their tournaments as a free for all. I have complained to Mc Enroe many, many times and never got a reply. May be he still believes that the way his brother behaved was great. He will have price money towards lessons or anything the kid needs. I am donating money for Michael’s efforts. I think it is great what he is doing, and hopefully we can get many more Pro’s in the US to do the same. As long as they are not afraid of the USTA’s repercussions. I am so happy and hope to receive a lot of e-mails from Pro’s doing the same thing, or from people supporting the idea. I know it will grow to where we have tournaments like that in about every city with Nationals. Save the little ones from the USTA’s disaster. – Robert

  1. My name is paul Newman a teaching pro from the UK, but educated in the States by PBI and Ashley Hobson. I am a firm believer in this concept and wish we in this country would adopt this idea and allow our young juniors what it takes to play this game.
